Bentonite is a clay mineral with unique chemical and physical properties that make it a high-performance viscosifier, sealant, binder, lubricant and absorbent. Formed millions of years ago by the reaction of volcanic ash with sea water, bentonite has literally thousands of uses in the manufacture of industrial and consumer products.
The Volclay® brand of bentonite products are recognized worldwide as the standard in many industries, the largest being the metalcasting industry. Volclay bentonite products are used for iron and steel casting production in green sand molding.
